Yesterday the Department of Social Cohesion presented to Ms. Jan Gomes, a student of the University of Guyana, a laptop computer to aid in her studies. The computer was provided through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Social Cohesion and its partners in civil society.

Ms. Gomes is from the village of Kato, Region Eight and is currently reading for a degree in Tourism. She approached the Department for assistance while they were conducting a sensitization session in her village during November 2017.

One of the pillars on which the Department of Social Cohesion was formed is the promotion of equal access to education. As such, the team felt it fitting to provide support to Ms. Gomes.

The item was formally handed over by the Minister of Social Cohesion, with responsibility for Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. George Norton.
