Track and Field star Owen Adonis hails from Paradise, East Coast Demerara. He started training full time for track and field in 2013 at the Enmore Track Club with the now late coach, John Martins. He participated in his first National Senior Championships in 2013 under Martin’s guidance and placed 2nd in the 100m finals. Adonis said that that race cemented the fact that he had found his true calling and inspired him to continue working hard.
He then moved to the Police Progressive Track Club where he worked with coach Mark Scott and competed for the University of Guyana. At present, he is on an Athletic Scholarship at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. While attending UWI, he participated at a few international events such as Penn relays, South American championships, Atlanta Georgia relays and the Digicel Grand Prix (Jamaica) event. He always wanted to be more than normal and track & field made him feel alive.
