A 700 metres brushwood dam will be installed along the foreshores between Columbia and Aberdeen, Essequbio Coast, Region Two. The $23.4M contract for the project was awarded to S & K Construction & Consultancy Services & General Supplies. It is part of NAREI’s mangrove restoration project.
The contract was today signed between the Chief Executive Officer of NAREI, Dr. Oudho Homenauth and Ms. Keshiri Gajraj, representative of the contracting company. The company is expected to commence works on July 16 and is scheduled to conclude by November 16, 2018.

Dr. Homenauthduring a brief discussion with the contractor at his Mon Repos office emphasized the importance of providing quality work within the contractduration. He pointed out that similar structures constructed in the Region have been able to withstand the harsh environmental conditions thus far.
For instance, in 2017, the Institute constructed two structures at Land of Plenty/ Three Friends and Reliance. While in 2015, extension works were done to the Bamboo Brushwood Dam at Walton Hall.
