Caricom is set to launch the report that was conducted recently on the state of biodiversity management in the Caribbean on an international level. The launching will take place today in Egypt at a United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) event in front of a worldwide audience,. The event is in accordance with the 14th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Egypt will be hosting the global summit on biological diversity in Sharm El Sheikh from the 17th to the 29th of November.
The mission of the event is to have discussions about the Post-2020 global diversity framework and the long-term strategy used for capacity building which will go underway at the next event. Through this, Caricom will have a platform to present the report which will call for an overview of the progression of member states in their pledge that falls under the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
The launching of the report took place on the 24th of October this year in Georgetown Guyana, at the opening of the Caribbean Regional Preparatory Workshop.
