Aadilah Ali, a student of Queen’s College has been an outstanding student over the years and continued to showcase her academic prowess at the May/June sitting of the Caribbean Examination Proficiency Examination.
According to the Caribbean Examination Council which announced Ali as the top CAPE performer for 2018, the Queen’s College student is the 2018 winner of the Dennis Irvine Award, the symbol of academic excellence at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) level.
She achieved Grade I in Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2, Biology Units 1 and 2, Caribbean Studies, Chemistry Unit 2, Communication Studies, Environmental Science Units 1 and 2, Integrated Mathematics, Physics Units 1 and 2, Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2, and Grade II in Chemistry Unit 1. Ali is the second Queen’s College, Guyana student to win the Dennis Irvine Award, following Cecil Cox in 2015.
She also copped the award for Most Outstanding Candidate in Natural Sciences.
Another student from Queen’s College, Guyana took the award for Most Outstanding Candidate in Mathematics. Rajiv Muneshwer achieved Grade I in 12 CAPE Units. The subjects he took are Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2, Biology Units 1 and 2, Caribbean Studies, Chemistry Units 1 and 2, Communication Studies, Integrated Mathematics, Physics Units 1 and 2, and Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2.
Muneshwer will receive the RM Results CAPE Mathematics Award. RM Results, a UK-based company began sponsoring the award in 2017.
Because of the students’ performance Queen’s College will receive the award for CAPE School of the Year 2018.
Other awards were won by students of Trinidad and Tobago.
The students will all receive their awards at the Regional Top Awards Ceremony slated for Thursday 6 December 2018 in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
