Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels has reported this morning that one of the prison escapees has been recaptured. The recaptured prisoner is 23-year-old murder accused Travis Evans of C Field, Sophia. According to Samuels it was through collaboration with alert citizens that the fugitive was caught at a roadblock set up at the Soesdyke/Linden junction. Evans was recaptured at around 07:45 hours.
According to Samuels, “the security of a nation is enhanced when law enforcement agencies and the wider community work together. It was such a situation that resulted in the capturing of the prison escapee.” He explained that information was received about the sighting of the escapee which led to members of the various search teams responding. The search teams which are still hunting two more escapees are made up of Joint Services ranks.
Yet to be recaptured are 23-year-old Sudesh Dyal, who was remanded for Break and Enter and Larceny and Escape from Custody; 29-year-old Dextroy Pollard of Wales Village who was on remand for Break and Enter and Larceny.
The three prisoners, who were being held in the Holding Bay of the Lusignan Prison, escaped early Monday morning by scaling a fence.
