The Rotary Club of Demerara on June 26, 2018, concluded its 25th installation of its new Board of Directors for the Rotary year 2018/2019 under the theme “Be the Inspiration”. On December 9, 2018, the club will be celebrating 25 years of service to individuals and communities across Guyana. This milestone is a great accomplishment for the Rotary Club of Demerara and we look forward to the continued support from the business community and other generous individuals, who have been instrumental in our success as a club over the years, as we strive to improve lives in the true Rotary spirit of “Service above Self”.
Mr Komal Ramnauth (Past President), was awarded Rotarian of the year for his commitment and dedication as a Rotarian and for achieving his goal of securing ten (10) Paul Harris Fellows for the Rotary year 2017/2018. The recipients of the Paul Harris Fellow award for this year included Mr Timothy Tucker, Mr Rajeshwar Sean Ramrattan, Mr Komal Singh, Mr Marcel Gaskin, Mr Harold Hopkinson, Mr Roshan Khan Jr., Ms Renata Chuck-A-Sang, Mr Navin Prashad, Mr Geraldo Alphonso and Mr Shaam Outar.
The incoming Board for the Rotary Club of Demerara will be headed by Club President, Mr Khemraj Goberdhan, a Certified Accountant and a dedicated Rotarian. Mr Goberdhan will be ably supported by Club Secretary Ms Tamika Inglis, a Business Analyst and a relatively new Rotarian, and Club Treasurer, Mr Ramesh Seebarran (Past President), who is also a Certified Accountant.
The other elected members of the Board include; Vice President Ms. Beverley Harper (Past President); Service Projects Chair Mr. Patrick De Groot (Past President); Club Administration Chair Ms. Rhonda La Fargue, Rotary Foundation Chair Mr. Marcel Gaskin (Past President), Membership Service Chair Mr. Vibert Welch; Public Relation Chair Ms. Renata Chuck-A-Sang (Past President); Mr. Hansraj Singh (President-Elect 2019/2020) and Mr. Kester Hutson (Immediate Past President).
