Karate College Elects News Board

The Guyana Karate College last Thursday hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), at its main Dojo in Thomas Lands, the yearly mandatory gathering of its trustees, administrative board and members where they discussed the previous year’s performance of the college and the strategy for the upcoming year.

At the meeting the new board of trustees which was voted in for the upcoming year included Master Frank Woon-a-Tai, Shihan Maureen Woon-a-Tai, Shihan Josef Woon-a-Tai, Shihan Jeffrey Wong, Senseis Dr. Guy Low, Aubrey Bettancourt, John Fernandes, Terrence Nicholas, Father Compton Meerabaux, Roger Peroune, Lawrence Low and Kenrick Cheeks.

At the AGM they also established a Shihan-Kai, or Masters Committee of senior Karatekas 6th Dan or higher with technical expertise to protect the Shotokan style of karate-do including Jeffrey Wong, Senseis Dr. Guy Low, Aubrey Bettancourt, John Fernandes, Harrichand and Terrence Nicholas.

The board of directors that was elected are Chairman and Chief Instructor – Master Frank Woon-a-Tai, Deputy Chairman and Deputy Chief Instructor – Shihan Maureen Woon-a-Tai, Vice Chairman and Vice Chief Instructor – Shihan Jeffrey Wong, President – Father Compton Meerabaux, Treasurer – Terrence Nicholas,  Asst Treasurer Golda Campayne, Secretary Sharon Wong, Asst Secretary Tashana Wong. The Media and Public Relations Consultant is Waynewright Orderson.
