Drummers in Guyana are in for a pleasant surprise as a named promoter is poised to stage the First ever drums festival in Guyana. To be staged at a prestigious event in Georgetown ‘Drum Fest 2018’ is set to discover and unleash the talent of drummers across Guyana, and to further promote, revitalize and resuscitate the art of drumming in Guyana. Drummers participating in a feisty and energetic ‘soon to come’ competition will win from over GYD$1.5M in cash, trophies and other prizes at the conclusion of the event.
In a brief comment just recently the promoter Corwyn Williams of CWS Entertainment noted that the art of drumming has faded considerably in Guyana, due to the lack of promotional sponsorship, and support from relative bodies that can further enhance the drumming tradition locally. He noted that this event is gerared at bringing together drummers from across the length and breadth of Guyana and will be also made an annual event which he expects will soon go international.
Individual and Group Drummers around Guyana are urged to get on board by contacting numbers 691 0963 or 647 4086 for registration and more information. Drummers are asked to attend a meeting to this effect on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 3 pm. This forum will be conducted at Lot 333 Cummings Street, Albertown (Between 5th and 6th Streets, Albertown, Georgetown).
