GNBS certifies 13th medical laboratory

The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) certified the Doobay Medical Centre Inc. Laboratory for the first time on June 5, 2018. This laboratory is the 13th Laboratory to be certified to the GYS 170 Standard under the GNBS Laboratory Certification Programme.

At a simple but significant ceremony at the laboratory’s location, Lot 8-9 Courbane Park Annandale, Ms. Candelle Walcott-Bostwick, Executive Director (GNBS) said she was pleased that the Bureau is able to certify yet another laboratory. Walcott-Bostwick congratulated the Board and Staff of Doobay Medical Centre for their hard work and commitment to the process which led to certification of the medical facility. She further indicated that implementing quality requires team effort and recognition of the need for quality.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Ameena Gafoor, Chairman of the Laboratory’s Board expressed appreciation to the GNBS Team for its support and guidance over the last nine months which led to the remarkable achievement. Mrs. Gafoor stated that the Laboratory welcomes the certification, which was long awaited.

The Doobay Medical Centre provides critical health care services to patients and this certification guarantees the assurance of reliable test results.

On behalf of the GNBS, Walcott- Bostwick handed over the GYS 170 Certificate to Ms. Bibi Saudia F. Khan, Snr. Medical Technologist in the presence of Laboratory Director Dr. Pheona Mohamed-Rambaran; Mrs. Gafoor, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Zahir Khan, Administrative Manager, and Head Nurses Ms. La Shawna John and Mrs. Sacha Sookra.
