MACORP graduates another batch of heavy duty technicians

MACHINERY Corporation of Guyana Limited (MACORP) on Friday 8th June, 2018 celebrated the achievement of the 2017-2018 batch of Heavy- duty Equipment maintenance trainee at its Providence, East Bank Demerara location. Nine trainees hailed from different parts of Guyana with craft certificate in electrical or mechanical studies from an accredited technical school, progressed as certified Caterpillar technician.
This programme started in 1998 with the aim of equipping technicians with special skills to service Caterpillar heavy duty equipment and machinery while developing talented young Guyanese to ensure a consistent level of superior results and quality in the delivery of Macorp’s customer service. This course traversed through a 12 months period where trainees were exposed to a comprehensive curriculum including Engine, Power Train, Hydraulic, Electrical, and Electronic along with soft skills such as effective communication, inter personal skills and conflict resolution through teaching and learning methodology with focal emphasis on competency base training.
Best graduating trainee was Mark Hiraman followed by Rayon Lee  and Akeem Hector.

Mr. Hiraman explained that he had a desire for mechanic and Caterpillar equipment and thank all the graduates for their team effort as well as the trainers for their support during the year of his training.
This new batch is expected to improve the dimensions of Macorp’s technical labour force and advance the technological values of Guyana’s industrial sector while maintaining a high level of discipline, knowledge and skills. They were encouraged to live Macorp’s Core Values of excellence, commitment, respect, collaboration, accountability and integrity.
Applicants for the TRAINEE TECHNICIAN Programme must have completed an Electrical or Mechanical craft certificate program from an established technical institution and must be 18 or older.
Over the years, this programme has trained more than 100 technicians (in an individualized environment) towards ensuring quality; owing to the constant upgrades and the uniqueness of Caterpillar machine and its technology.
