Amity steelband event for October 1

‘Amity’ an annual feature of the Ministry of Education’s ‘Education Month’ celebration, is an event designed to provide a stage for students to showcase their skills in the musical art form.

This year as the month of activities continues, the Ministry will be hosting ‘Amity’ a Schools Steelband Presentation on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the Botanical Gardens, Vlissengen Road, Georgetown. The event is set to commence at 16:00hrs and continue for the better part of two hours.

Minister of Education, Nicolette Henry, and the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Mr. Marcel Hutson, will be delivering special and opening remarks respectively. But the main attraction will be the sectional presentations by the Dolphin Secondary, North Georgetown Primary, St. Rose’s High School, West Demerara Secondary, President’s College, Queen’s College, The Bishops’ High School, Mahaicony Secondary, Pan Wave, Buxton Steel Orchestra, North Ruimveldt Secondary and the National School of Music.

This year Education Month is being celebrated under the theme: “Promoting Wellness in Communities through Quality Education”.
