Everybody knows that family time is important time. As such spending quality time together can never be overrated even if it is translates to watching a movie at home. But here in our dear land it hasn’t always been the easiest of tasks to find entertainment outside of the home suitable for the entire family, that is, entertainment for both kids and adults in a safe environment.
Concerns about such a challenge could however be placed in the past where they belong with the introduction of arguably the first local Amusement Park. Yes readers, if you do not already know, Guyana is home to an Amusement Park that does just what the name suggest – amuse. In case you really didn’t know it is situated a short distance from the Demerara Harbour Bridge at the Princess Ramada Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara. Although The Park was opened about six months ago there are still quite a few people who aren’t even aware that it exists.
Even before this, the Hotel was home to the Fun City gaming arcade. Indeed the arcade has a bunch of games that are intriguing to the kids but the adults usually have to stand on the sidelines. Of course it will always be a joy for a parent to see their children having an enjoyable time but sometimes they too have the urge to scream in sheer excitement.
It might have been with this in mind that another entertainment dimension was introduced – the Amusement Park that caters to those with a flair for some thrill.
Now kids are not forbidden from any of the rides but there are quite a few that adults can enjoy with their kids and have an equally exciting time. Among these are: the pirateship that swings in a see-saw motion at an increasing pace to give the sensation of rough waters on the high seas. At the bow of the pirateship ride of course is a one-eyed pirate who seems to be beckoning for more speed, but that deduction would be dependent on the individual passenger and where they are seated.
Also shared by all is the bumper car ride which allows for the most exhilarating accidents allowed. However, at the same time the ride can help to teach defensive steering, which essentially makes it a fun learning experience.
Other rides for kids of various ages are the mini ship, tea cup, train and carousel, and of course there are cotton candy, pop corn and a wide selection of meals to choose from on sale.
With fun and food intact, the Amusement Park is an investment that can undoubtedly be an ideal venue that caters to good quality family time.
