the significance of the observance.
“We are thankful for all our soldiers who played their roles in World
Wars I and II and the red poppies are symbolic of the blood that was
shed on those fateful days. Let us use the remembrance of this
observance as the catalyst for more unity among our people.”
The Ode of Remembrance which reads, “They shall grow not old, as we
that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years
condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will
remember them,” was recited by all in attendance while the Last Post
and the Rouse were performed by the bugler of the Guyana Police Force.
The observance ended with a March Past by the Guyana Police Force,
Guyana Fire Service, and other representatives from various churches
including majorettes.
The ‘D’ Division of the Guyana Police Force was the main attention for
the onlookers as they marched and displayed high levels of discipline.
