The Easter season is the time where those in the Christian community, in remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, indulge in kite flying activities. But this kite flying tradition has been embraced by all religions and all walks of life.
It is a pastime that is enjoyed by adults but especially by the young.
It was with this in mind that the Child Care and Protection Agency [CCPA] has in place an established tradition of kite flying for its charges.
Moreover, the CCPA this year continued its yearly Easter Day Out with the children from the homes under which the Ministry of Social Protection has responsibility. Children from the Drop in Center, the Mahaica Children’s Home and the Sophia Children’s Home all came together in the National Park on Sunday to fly their kites and play games such as circle tennis and football in celebration of the Easter season.
Since the establishment of the CCPA in 2009, this activity has been an ongoing one and will continue in the coming years said Director of CCPA Ms. Ann Green.
The Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally, took the time to engage with the children on their Easter Day out too. She encouraged them to enjoy their time and fly their kites responsibly. Minister Ally also participated in some of the fun much to the delight of the children and caretakers.
The Ministry of Social Protection has made it clear that it takes the care of the children of the nation very seriously and continues to encourage parents and everyone to look out for each other, especially the children, as efforts are made to build cohesive communities
