Children at Ruimveldt Home complete computer literacy course

Written by

Fourteen children, nine to 15 years old, who are currently resident at the Ruimveldt Children’s Home and Care Center, will receive their Certificates of Participation tomorrow, Saturday May 5, after satisfactorily completing a five-month Computer Literacy programme.

This programme was part of the annual training agenda devised and co-ordinated by the Industry and Innovation Department of the Ministry of Public Telecommunications.

All 14 of the children from the Ruimveldt Home passed the course, and along with their certificates, Starr Computers had pledged to donate two additional computers to the Home.  The National Data Management Unit, NDMA, had previously donated several laptop computers.   One of the graduating students has already moved up to the Ministry’s Guyanese Girls Code training programme, and four (4) others who have demonstrated high aptitude will continue on to intermediate level training.
