More than $3 billion in outstanding rates and taxes is owed to the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown. According to information disseminated by the municipality every cent of the outstanding amount is needed to sustain basic services even at current levels.

As such it said in a statement that it is hoped that property owners in general will assist the Council in its effort to honour its responsibilities to local communities and the city.

In this regard, last Tuesday [November 14th, 2017] the Council took a decision to grant an amnesty on interest owed in general rates to all property owners for one month- November 15 to December 15, 2017.

The Council is urging all property owners to take the opportunity to settle their outstanding accounts at the Georgetown Municipality.
