The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) will hold the first edition of its updated Caribbean ICT Roadshow initiative in Guyana from 9th to 13thJuly 2018. Hosted by the Ministry of Public Telecommunications of the Government of Guyana, the Roadshow will visit Georgetown, Berbice and Lethem to explain and demonstrate how technology can transform organisations and the lives of all citizens.
Since its inception in 2009, the Roadshow has been held 23 times in 18 Caribbean territories. The Roadshow creates awareness among the public and private sector and civil society of how information and communication technologies (ICT) can be used effectively to solve challenges in every aspect of Caribbean life and to support entrepreneurship. The Roadshow’s programmesextend to the entire national community, with activities that deliver a consistent message of ICT-enabled social and economic development.
True to its theme, 21st Century Government, Guyana’s Roadshow will place special emphasis on raising awareness of and educating on the principles of 21st Century Governments – governments that are citizen-centric seamless and make effective use of ICT to deliver services to its citizens, internal and external clients. The Roadshow seeks to lay a foundation for establishing Governments throughout the Caribbean, which are fit for purpose in the 21st Century.
Policy makers, technocrats, regulators, operators, private sector, civil society, academia and citizens will converge in Georgetown for this event. Additionally, community outreach activities will take place in Berbice and Lethem.
