This year, the Caribbean Youth Environment Network in Guyana [CYEN] is once again excited to host its 4th Annual “Shaping Young Eco-Changemakers” Environmental Day Camp from July 31st to August 17th, 2017. The Young Eco-Changemakers is specifically designed to cater to the environmental education needs of children between the ages of six to 12 years old. As is customary, the Camps will take a wide reaching approach towards environmental Awareness by undertaking a total four segments/session covering a total of three Administrative Regions i.e., Regions Three, Four and 10.
The CYEN in Guyana is a part of a regional, non-profit organization that empowers young people to develop actions and programmes that address socio-economic and environmental issues affecting their communities and country.
CYEN believes firmly in the concept of education through fun, as such the Shaping Young Eco-Changemakers Day Camp represents an educational and learning experience with a difference. All training modules and sessions are filled with games, craft, adventure and experiments designed to introduce our young campers to “the fun side” of being environmentally-friendly and conscious in a changing world.
Each day, children will learn about important environmental topics including: Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Biodiversity and most importantly the role they can play in caring for the environment and being eco-heroes. Sessions will be facilitated by qualified young environmental leaders who are active practitioners passionate about working with children and shaping the next generation of environmental stewards.
CYEN recognizes the role of Guyanese youth in protecting our natural and national patrimony is, now more than ever, crucial to molding and fulfilling a sustainable agenda.
