Plans for the development of the agriculture sector are in the pipeline. This move is likely to include the extension of Guyana’s agriculture base to the intermediate savannahs.

Discussions in this regard were had between Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Noel Holder, and Canadian Ambassador, Lilian Chatterjee.

The discussion at the Minister’s Regent Street office entailed them touching on plans for development in the agriculture sector that would see Guyana benefiting from partnerships with Canada given the fact that Canada is one of the largest agricultural producers and exporters in the world.

It was during this discussion that Minister Holder outlined the agriculture extension plans.  In response Ambassador Chatterjee indicated that her government is pleased with the progress made in the agriculture sector thus far and pledged Canada’s continued support in the agriculture sector as well as other areas for development.
