The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will hold a two-day Outreach Programme to Region Seven. The activity is designed to meet with residents of Bartica and the riverain communities on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th May, 2017,
Communications Officer Liz Rahaman and a State Counsel will meet residents, who have concerns to do with criminal matters and are desirous of filing their complaints with the DPP, on Wednesday May 24 from 09:30 hours to 16:30 hours and on Thursday 25 from 09:00 hours to 13:00 hours in the Boardroom of the Regional Administration Building on First Avenue.
The officers will also host a live half hour call-in television programme on Wednesday evening from 19:00 to 19:30 hours on the Tarzie Television.
The two-day sensitization programme is aimed at increasing public awareness about the works and functions of the DPP’s Chambers.
“The focus is to extend our service to people who live in the outlying regions who may need guidance and assistance with matters of a criminal nature and who do not know where to go to seek redress, or they simply cannot afford it financially to visit our office to seek help,” a notice from the DPP’s office said.
The DPP plays a vital role in the administration of justice in criminal causes or matters. It is the authority vested with the power and responsibility of exercising control over the prosecution of all criminal matters except the institution of court-martial.
