Fly Jamaica commissions new Brooklyn office

Aimed at providing its customers in New York greater ease of physical access to its ticketing service, Fly Jamaica Airways last evening launched its Brooklyn, New York office.
The Brooklyn office is located at 1397 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York and is the second United States based Fly Jamaica office dedicated to selling tickets. Customers can however still purchase tickets online and at the airline’s JFK office
The airline, which is  Guyanese-owned, has Captain Paul Reece, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and his wife Ms. Roxanne Reece, the Managing Director at its helm. Their daughter Kayla Reece is the company’s Marketing Director.

Kayla Reece (second from right) is joined by Ms Barbara Atherly to cut the ceremonial ribbon. They are flanked by Fly Jamaica Airways staffers.

According to Mrs Reece, the move to open the Brooklyn office was premised on the need to target yet another area where Caribbean people are located in their numbers. “We found that there was a need for our people to access our services more easily,” Mrs Reece said.
The opening ceremony was blessed by religious leaders of the Christian, Muslim and Hindu communities.
Following the official opening segment, a reception to celebrate the opening was held at Trelawni Place at Utica Avenue also in Brooklyn.
Speaking at the latter forum, Captain Reece said, “This is a very important step in the expansion of Fly Jamaica Airways.”
At this juncture he stressed the airline vision to always “provide good services to our customers.” In achieving this goal he said “we really appreciate the support from everyone…everybody here and and overseas have been supportive and we hope the support continues.”
According to Captain Reece, Fly Jamaica Airways, a still relative small business, which took a long time to be realised, took solid root in 2011 but got approval to evolve on February 14, 2013. “The whole team has been working together to make it a wonderful operation,” said Captain Reece of Fly Jamaica.
Among those present at the opening ‘ceremony was the Consul General of the Guyana Consulate, Ms Barbara Attherly, and Vice Consul of the Jamaica Consulate, Ms. Yonna Bailey Magalhaes.
Fly Jamaica has over the years been driven by a ‘One Team, One Dream’ Motto.

Currently the Jamaica-headquartered airline has in operation a fleet of two aircraft. But according to Mrs Reece the company is hoping to not only add a couple more routes in the near future but also two more carriers by next year.
Currently the airline is able to cater to customers flying to four destinations: Guyana, Jamaica, Toronto and New York.
