Foreign services officers trained to detect human trafficking

Written by

Foreign Service Officers yesterday participated in a one-day workshop on Human Trafficking at the Guyana Police Officers’ Training Centre. It was facilitated by the Ministerial Taskforce on Combatting Trafficking In Persons (TIP).

The objectives were to ensure that the officers understood the legal climate surrounding TIP in Guyana, as well as available regional and international support, and were able to identify, report and refer victims, especially in international cases.

Presenters emphasized the importance of the exercise, noting that it would heighten the awareness of the Foreign Ministry officials and lead to the enhancement of Guyana’s skills in this area.
