Intended to expand its banking service to its customers, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited [GBTI] has added yet another Automated Teller Machine [ATM] to its operation.
The newest ATM is located at the Medicare Building at Lot 22 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara. GBTI not have in operation 24 ATMs across the country.
In fact the Bank is able to boast of a network of 13 branches countrywide.
Speaking on behalf of the Bank at a simple commissioning ceremony, Regent Street Branch Manager, Mrs Roxanne Welcome-Europe, noted that the Bank has always been the leader in technology when it comes to banking in Guyana. This she said translates to the fact that the country saw its first ATM machine in 1994 compliments of GBTI.
GBTI, Welcome-Europe said, will continue to be the leader in this industry.
GBTI’s Chief Executive Officer [ag], Ms Shaleeza Shaw, noted that the Bank continues to see value in making it easier for businesses to do transactions and the launching of this ATM will ensure just that. She expects that the ATM would not only cater to residents of the Mon Repos community but those along the East Coast corridor.
She also said that GBTI will soon be launching smart ATMs which will see touch screen among other banking options.
Also present at the ceremony was Regional Chairperson, Ms Geneieve Alleyne, who remarked that GBTI is now the fourth bank along the East Coast area which will service residents. She applauded the Bank and its Management team for taking on this initiative and said that this will improve commerce in the area.
GBTI and regional officials together with children from schools on the East Coast of Demerara helped to commission the ATM by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
