GRA introduces new measure to release courier consignments

Written by

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has undertaken steps to expedite the processing and release of shipments via courier at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

This new approach which takes effect from today, Wednesday, July 19, 2017, will minimize the current delays that have been experienced with courier consignments while at the same time ensuring the relevant duties and taxes are collected.

The GRA has introduced the C73A (Courier Declaration Form) which will be used for consignments NOT exceeding a value of US$5,000 while consignments exceeding a value of US$5,000 will require the C72 (Customs Declaration Form) for processing and clearance.

This new system will reduce the current three weeks processing time for commercial consignments to approximate the five hours for personal and household effects, thereby allowing couriers to swiftly deliver packages and mails to the recipients.

The C73A Form is available on the GRA’s website, www.gra.gov.gy. The form can be found as part of the Customs and Trade Administration page via this link http://www.gra.gov.gy/forms/customs-trade-administration.
