Friday the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) hosted the Closing Ceremony for the 2018 Work Study Facilitation. GTT provided for a six weeks work study program for students who recently wrote the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examinations and students from the Guyana Technical Institute (GTI).
Nineteen students were placed in various departments: Outside Plant – Maintenance, Commercial Department – MMG and Business Sales, Customer Care – Call Centre, Finance, Procurement and Data Network Services Department.
GTT was lauded for their exceptional work study program by many of those students involved who shared their experience during their time there. Chaim Evelyn, who was attached to the Procurement Department of GTT, thanked the company for the opportunity to work and learn in such a friendly and welcoming environment and hope more students have the same chance in the future.
Each work study student received a stipend; additionally, those who attained a pass of 1 or 2 in Mathematics and English received a Kindle Fire Tablet.
GTT continues to do more to create an enabling environment to help with the development of young Guyanese.
