Guysons Oil and Gas Services and Guysons Engineering have met the stringent ISO 9001:2015 certification requirements by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). In the case of Guysons Oil and Gas, the certification is a first for a Guyanese oilfield service provider while Guysons Engineering is the first Machine Shop to be certified through the integral support of ExxonMobil Guyana’s Centre for Local Business Development (CLBD).
This sterling achievement by the two Guyanese companies under the Guysons Group is a significant step forward for Local Content Development. For the first time, two local companies have put internationally approved Quality Management Systems in place that are specifically geared for the oil and gas sector.
This is a significant breakthrough—for Guysons in particular and the local suppliers in general—because it proves that committed local companies can overcome the challenges involved in upgrading and transforming their business operations in Guyana, to bring them in full compliance with a range of international standards that must be meticulously applied and maintained.
This achievement means the two Guysons companies are internationally recognised as being able to deliver products and services that meet customer expectations and deliver customer satisfaction at an international standard, while meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. It also means the companies’ operations have the flexibility to identify and implement improvements to meet new industry requirements as they arise.
The Guysons companies are now officially qualified to be suppliers to extraction companies in Guyana’s oil and gas sector, and are on record as being well equipped to meet the complex data integration and ecommerce needs of such customers at highly competitive prices, using an agile multi-channel integration platform for industry essentials like real-time accurate customer order data and inventory.
According to Guysons CEO Faizal Khan, this is just the latest phase of strategic progress by Guysons Engineering (1986), and Guysons Oil and Gas as the family-owned companies move to expand capacity across the board.
The CEO noted that for 30 years, Guysons Engineering has been widely regarded as the number one machine shop in Guyana. With extensive design and machining capabilities and a wide customer base in Guyana’s manufacturing and mineral extraction industries, Guysons has been serving a number of companies, especially those requiring heavy-duty machinery, such as gold and bauxite mining. The operations of the two Guysons entities are complementary.
