The Guyana Water Inc. [GWI] has expressed appreciation to residents served by the Westminster and L’Oratoire, West Bank Demerara well stations, for their patience and cooperation over the past weeks, as it worked to rectify irregular water supply situation that was being experienced.

But according to GWI, the disruption in water service was due mainly to Guyana Power and Light (GPL) voltage fluctuations and power failures.

Nevertheless, GWI said that it is now pleased to report that following collaboration with GPL, service has been restored to normalcy.

Areas affected were: La Parafaite Harmonie, L’Oratoire, Onderneeming, West Minster, Recht-Door- Zee, La Grange and Schoonard, West Bank Demerara. Customers, it said, are currently receiving water and a team from GWI’s Region Three Office is visiting the areas to ensure normal level of service is restored.

Meanwhile, GWI has commenced water delivery from the Vergenoegen well station to customers residing in De Kindren, Meten Meer Zorg, Prem Nagar and Meten Meer Zorg Railway. This exercise commenced Saturday September 23, 2017 at 06:00hrs and will continue until an acceptable level of service is achieved. GWI said that it is working towards a level of service of 2.5m head (3.5 Pounds per Square Inch) as acceptable.

Even as it extended its apology, GWI reassured customers that every effort is being made to improve its services offered to customers countrywide.
