GWMO members selected for prestigious mentorship programme

Two members of the Guyana Women Miners Organisation have been selected from the prestigious International Women in Resources Mentorship Programme (IWRMP), coordinated by the International Women in Mining. The programme aims to empower and encourage the career prospects of women working in the natural resources industry by developing productive mentoring partnerships to further develop a culture of diversity and gender progressive industry.

Ms.Belina Charlie, who hails from Shia Village, rose through nothing less than overwhelming hard work and dedication to her current position in the mining sector. Ms. Charlie is joined by Mrs. Quyanna Elliott, who recently represented the GWMO in Trinidad at the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme.

The Guyana Women Miners Org. strongly believes that through empowerment we can overcome adversity. IWRMP will be launched at PDAC International Convention, Trade Show and Investors Exchange which will be held from March 4th-7th, 2018, at the Metro Convention Center, Toronto, Canada. IWRMP will not just provide both women with support, but also provide them with opportunities to connect potential global partners. For the duration of six months, Ms. Charlie and Mrs. Elliott will be paired with mentors that will aid to guide them towards their success. The programme is set to conclude in London, England.

We commend our partners at the International Women in Mining for championing this effort. The promotion of knowledge exchange for the development of natural resource sectors across the globe.
