Since the public launch of Heal Guyana on December 14, the non-profit organization has reached over 36,000 persons with their online messages. Positive public responses, including over 65 persons who have offered commitments of time and resources, is evidence that Guyanese wish for healing in Guyana. The group calls on all citizens, including institutions of state, political parties, civil society, and the private sector, to embrace the message of positive behaviour change and to do more in 2018 to help Guyana recover from its many wounds.
As the New Year approaches, filled with hope at the endless possibilities, Heal Guyana extends an invitation for all Guyanese to earnestly reflect on the resolutions promoted by their inclusive civil society platform. “Starting with ourselves” which is the Heal Guyana slogan, encourages all Guyanese to let 2018 be the year that brings them closer to being the kind of society and country they desperately yearn for. “Personal accountability and becoming more pro‐active within our communities is the most strategic place to begin. Together we can live in harmony, show concern for each other, reject the evil of racism and all other forms of discrimination,” according to a release from the organization.
