‘Healthy diet’ workshop to fast-track Guyana ‘healthiest nation’ goals

Moves are apace to train persons to be able to develop suitable diets that can help to make Guyana a healthy nation.
Guyana has long been aiming to be the healthiest nation within the Caribbean and Latin America, moreover deliberate efforts are being made in this regard.
Among the efforts will be a Food Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDGs) trainer of trainers workshop slated to commence tomorrow at the National Center for the Kingston,  Georgetown Educational Research and Development [NCERD].
The Workshop which will continue on the following day is being held in collaboration with the Food Policy Division, Ministry of Public Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations [FAO].
The main objective of the workshop is to train specialized personnel from various agencies and who are in key positions to replicate same across Guyana for the rollout of the FBDGs.
With healthier citizens, Guyana will be well on its way to reducing the cases of chronic Non Communicable Diseases that have been claiming far too many lives.
