The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced today that it will host its 2017 Caribbean LAC-i-Roadshow in Georgetown, Guyana.

The event is slated for next week Wednesday, October 11, 2017. This edition of the road-show will be part of Internet Week Guyana, a program of activities organized by the Guyana Ministry of Public Telecommunications, Caribbean Network Operators Group [CaribNOG], Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry [LACNIC, the Internet Society [ISOC] and Caribbean Telecommunications Union [CTU].

ICANN’s Albert Daniels, Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager for the Caribbean, will present at Internet Week Guyana on October 9. The Ministry of Public Telecommunications organized the day’s activities, some of which are targeted at raising awareness about the multi-stakeholder model and ICANN’s policy development process. He will also be a presenter at the LAC-i-Roadshow.

Agenda topics at the Georgetown LAC-i-Roadshow include: Transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), which provides a wider spectrum of IP addresses for the growing number Internet-enabled devices; Issues around the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) and Updates on the global rollout and impact of ICANN’s New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Program.

The LAC-i-Roadshow is the result of collaboration among ICANN community stakeholders from across the region. The event is held annually in the four key regions of Latin America – the Caribbean, Andean region, Mexico/Central America, and South America. ICANN’s goal is to present a unified perspective on ongoing work and issues related to Internet governance and DNS management that are affecting the region. Each meeting is led by local experts in partnership with additional leaders and collaborators drawn from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
