Linden Mothers Receive Hampers Form The “Mommy and Me Project”

Written by

A total of sixty two mothers and expected mothers received hampers filled with baby care items from the ‘Mommy and Me’ project.

The first group of mothers came from the maternity ward at the New Linden Hospital complex followed by the patients of the high risk antenatal clinic at the old hospital in McKenzie. It was then that even more hampers were distributed at the Upper Demerara Hospital.

The Mommy and me Project  was founded and implemented by Jean Nurse, an American Social Worker with Guyanese parentage.

For her, the project is way of giving back to Guyana. She has been doing similar projects for many years and hopes to continue this on an annual basis, if not, biennially.

On the team with her this time around were, Tonya Davis, Jennifer Harry, Sandra Hope, Taniel Rice, Pastor Brenda Sam, Shameka Bhagwandin, Margaret Baird, Donnette Bentham, Michelle Daniels and Shemroy Limerick.
