It was after much perseverance that Guyana will have for the first time in history, a local animated series. The show will explore a number of key concepts and issues in society as seen through the eyes of a girl called Nancy. The show has been in the making for quite some times now and i being produced by Tinninben, a local animation company which is led by Chief Executive Officer and Storyteller, Alexander Graham.
It was a the Herdmanston Lodge that the premiere of the series was held recently. The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence, Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin, Head of E-Networks, Vishook Persaud and the CEO of the Institute of Private Enterprise Development, Ramesh Persaud.
It was there that members of the audience were treated to a rare treat of the first episode of the show, lasting a total of 12 minutes. It was also shown on E-Networks’ E1 cable channel on Saturday night.
The show titled, Nancy’s School Daze, features the evolution of Nancy over the span of her life in primary school. In Nancy’s story, she is a victim of sexual abuse who learns that disclosure brings an end to the abuse and initiates the process of healing. The aim of Nancy’s School Daze is to enlighten children of the ills of society and how they can do something about it and make them stop or at least safeguard themselves against further abuse.
