As the Ministry of Public Telecommunications’ (MOPT) 2018 training schedule winds down, attention has been turned on secondary schools in this season of graduations.
The Ministry has been presenting gifts of computing devices to the Best Graduating students in Information Technology. On Thursday November 22, MOPT will present a prize to the top student in Information Technology at the Aurora Secondary School on the Essequibo Coast. The Best Graduating Student in IT at the Corentyne Comprehensive High School also received a similar prize some three weeks ago.
This year MOPT met its benchmarks with respect to providing ICT training facilities, human and other resources. It is the Ministry’s mandate to ensure that all of Guyana’s peoples, especially our children, are exposed to Information Communication Technology (ICT) in its many variations.
The training outreaches concluded to date included modules in Basic and Intermediate level Computer Literacy and Coding. This year the strongest focus was placed on children in several administrative regions and female students who have all been encouraged to pursue ICTs at the tertiary level of their education.
The MOPT ICT training schedule for 2019 will get underway in January.
