Even as she prepares for the Miss World 2017 pageant in China, Reigning Miss World Guyana, Vena Mookram, today officially launched her Beauty with a Purpose project. Titled “Sweet Vigor”, the project is a park and centre that focuses on Diabetes Prevention through Diet and Exercise.
The launch kicked off with a Fitness Walk within the Diamond/Grove area which was followed with presentations by a panel of professionals on Diabetic Prevention and overall health care.
It was after this that the ribbon was cut and the park and centre was officially declared open to the public and residents of Golden Grove/Diamond. Also free medical, dental and optical services were provided on site along with the distribution of medication by medical practitioners on board with this cause.
According to The Miss World Guyana promoter, Ms. Natasha Martindale, “Vena has done an amazing job for the past two months and I know without a doubt that she will make us all proud as she continues this amazing journey.”
Mookram’s project is the construction of a fitness park and diabetic centre through collaboration with the Golden Grove/ Diamond Neighborhood Democratic Council (NDC). She has already completed two massive health fairs in Essequibo as well as Berbice. One that is being referenced as one of the biggest health fairs to hit Berbice.
