Proceeds from Dance for Literacy, a Zumba dance party fundraiser organized by employees of Scotiabank and Demerara Mutual, were presented to three charities to be used to equip children for school.
The DDL Foundation, Radio’s Needy Children’s Fund and Joshua House together benefitted from $190,000 which was raised during the recent fundraiser held at Demerara Mutual’s Parking Lot.

Zumba Queen Noshavyah King of Genesis Fitness partnered also on the initiative, providing her services free of cost.
Marketing Manager of Scotiabank, Jennifer Cipriani, noted that the employees had fun raising the money, as they too participated in the dancing and exercise, and noted that it was an even happier moment presenting the cheques to the three charities. Representatives from the three beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the donation.
This is the second year for this event which will be the signature community project for staff of Scotiabank’s Country Management Office and Operations and Administration Departments.
The DDL Foundation and Radio’s Needy Children’s Fund give scholarships and bursaries respectively, to underprivileged children. Joshua House is an orphanage housing about 50 children.
