With his newest single – Nuzzle Up – set to be released shortly, Canada-based Guyanese Dancehall/Reggae Artiste ‘Negus’ has been making a name for himself. The 35-year- old who currently resides in Toronto, Canada has over the years been able gain considerable recognition for his music in Canada and the Caribbean too.
He has been able to perform with Jamaica artistes the likes of Beenie Man, Red Rat and Buju Banton and his has collaborated with Konshens too.
With designing and graphics skills as well as the maker of some awesome beats, ‘Negus’ has been able to introduce his own recording studio in Canada called Street Platinum Records. Through this entity he has been making unrivalled music, a passion that he embraced ever since he was a young boy growing up in Albouystown, Georgetown.
However, ‘Negus’ is still seeking official validation in his homeland. This is in light of the fact that ‘Negus’, whose real name is Alwin Nurse, has throughout the years remain patriotic to his country – Guyana, South America. This is in spite of the fact that many people were of the belief that he was a Jamaica artiste which resulted in him gaining some much needed attention.
But, according to the ‘Negus’, he is hopeful that like the exposure his music continues to get in Canada and the Caribbean, especially Jamaica, he is optimistic that the local DJs and other relevant persons will find it necessary to amplify his music as well as that of local artistes to help growing the recording music industry here.
