National School of Dance ‘Studio to stage’ second leg set for Sunday at NCC

Following the staging of the first leg of the National School of Dance, last Saturday and Subsequent postponement of the staging of the other leg of the Studio to Stage Dance show the public is advised that the event will now be staged on Sunday, July 16 at the National Cultural Center.  The Ministry of Education’s annual Studio to stage dance showcase hosted by the National School of Dance at the National Cultural Center is a staple and the organisers have expressed an apology for any inconvenience caused by the sudden decision to postpone the event and advises that the postponement was due to unforeseen circumstances and to ensure the safety of patrons and students. All tickets purchased remain valid for Sunday’s event.

Linda Griffith Director of the NSC said that those who flock to the National Cultural centre need not worry about a shortage of dance presentations, styles and technique on Sunday.

“We have the presentation from students aged between 3-9 and young adults showcasing modern dance, classical ballet, contemporary style, ethnic dances, Caribbean and Guyanese also,” Griffith said.

The pieces are focused on fantasy, social and topical issues and abstracts.

We are catering for every level of interest in dance expressions such as religious, storytelling and interpretive music, themes and fun themes for children also.

Studio to the stage is one of the major events put on by the National School of Dance to showcase techniques and choreography work done throughout the year. It’s done for academic grading of participants grading while exposing them to performing in a theatre setting.

Studio to the stage has been an annual event dating back to 1974. All told there will be about 22 new items presented by students from 16 classes. Additional tickets are available at the NCC.
