Taking place at the Marriott hotel last evening, the Miss India Guyana 2016 pageant featured three finalists. Using their wits, talent and beauty, they all vied for the chance to represent Guyana at the Miss India Worldwide pageant in New Jersey, USA.

The contestants were 20 year old Brittany Singh, 21 year old Abigail Mohabir and 24 year old Tahirih Boodhoo. The ultimate winner getting the chance to compete in the Miss India Worldwide pageant slated for the 3rd to 9th October, 2016.

The Management team had announced that it had acquired the franchise for the pageant in late July so major preparations were lacking. Thus, unlike most pageants being held, the pageant was judged majorly in an online voting process. Social Media, including the popular Facebook, was used to facilitate this.

Here, persons were allowed to vote for their choice through “likes” that would make up 40 per cent of their total score, with the top ten contestants being invited to vie for the remaining 60 per cent. The latter phase of the competition was decided based on the talent and interview segments.

In the end, only three finalists remained; the reason being that several contestants withdrew due to the lack of time given for preparation.

After much deliberation and an unexpected turn of events, the winner was announced to be Brittany Singh.
She is expected to be given a complete wardrobe from the Miss India Guyana Organization and its designers for the week of the competition.

After which she will also receive an exclusive international designer outfits for the final competition night, a full make-up class package sponsored by Flawless’ Tenisha Garnett, and a full photo-shoot session sponsored by John Greene Photography.

Singh was donned with a handmade, Austrian Swarovski crystal, gold plated crown which according to organizers will be reflective of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary.
