Offshore medical school, Greenheart Medical School Monday evening graduated 15 medical doctors. The medical school which has been under Indian management since 2013 has been catering to more than 200 students from Guyana, India, the United Kingdom, Jamaica, Trinidad, United States and Cuba.
The graduates who will be able to practice both locally and abroad were administered their Hippocratic Oath before family members, several practicing doctors within the medical field, including Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr, Karen Cummings, moments after a lively convocation ceremony at the Kingston, Georgetown, Marriott Hotel.
They were all urged to put into practice what they have learnt over the years at medical as they embark on a journey to serve humanity. But even as they dedicate themselves to the profession, Minister Cummings said, “you are here today as a testimony of your hard work…and now you stand on the threshold of greatness where you will be conferred a title that will empower you as well as place great responsibility on your shoulders.”
She, however, underscored that an important activity that must be inculcated throughout the practice of medicine is continuous professional development. According to the Minister, since change is inevitable it will be necessary for the young doctors to become aware of changes that take place in the medical profession. “Read continuously on the development in your field and ensure you remain on the cutting edge of medical science development,” urged the Public Health Minister.
