The Ministry of Social Protection in collaboration with the National Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will be holding a one-day National Consultation on draft Noise Occupational Safety and Health Regulation tomorrow [Tuesday, October 9] at the Herdmanston Lodge at 65 Anira Street, Queenstown, Georgetown. This activity is in keeping with the Ministry’s programme of regulation reform and development in support of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The purpose of the consultation is to gain consensus on the composition of the Noise Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Regulation that should be made under the Occupational Safety and Health Act Chapter 99:06 laws of Guyana.
The Consultation will be declared opened at 9.00am by Honourable Mr. Keith Scott, Minister in the Ministry of Social Protection. Other speakers at the opening session of this activity will include Mr. Charles Ogle, Chief Labour Officer, Mr. Earl Morris, Chairman of the National Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) and Mr. Lennox Marcelle, ILO Consultant who is presently in Guyana for this week to assist the Ministry in a review of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The Social Partners, key stakeholders and a number of companies and organizations within the private and public sectors have been invited to participate in this important consultation.
