For a number of years, the results for Mathematics has been constantly struggling to keep up to pace. Taking at look back at this year’s CSEC results, it is evident that there has been a decline in the performance in that specific subject area yet again. From the looks of things, this is a problem, especially if our education system wants to boast about well rounded students.
As such the Government of Guyana is on an earnest quest to have this improved by allocating a grand sum of $48 Million to the Ministry of Education for that specific purpose.
This amount is expected to be expended by the end of the year according to the Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, however it will not be all as more is expected to be invested throughout the course of 2017.
The money will be use in the procurement of equipment and source materials for that specific subject area as well as for specialized training for teachers who have the responsibility for teaching it. THis will be across the board, ranging from nursery to secondary.
