Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo performing the duties of Acting
President visited the Raj Yoga Centre on Sunday night.
The visit follows an invitation made by Sister Usha from the Brahma
Kumaris movement after she would have tied the ceremonial string or
‘Rakhi’ around the wrists of Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Mrs.
Sita Nagamootoo last September in observance of Raksha Bandan.
Sister Usha led the Prime Minister, his wife and other invited guests
in a spiritual meditation and afterwards presented them with tokens of
appreciation.
During brief remarks, Prime Minister Nagamootoo stated that the
session of meditation reminded him of the importance of focusing on
the “the centre of the being.” He noted that often there is a
“misconception that politicians are concentrated on the ego because of
who we are and the positions we hold.”
He also shared Sister Usha’s sentiments that “we have become absorbed
in rather than in ourselves.” This he said, “while a distraction, is
also part and parcel of the developing digital reality.”
‘The world is moving and it is moving very quickly. The world is
becoming very impersonal and so we are losing ourselves in the outer
being without having time to focus inward, on who we are and what we
ought to be.”
