The many crime fighting strategies initiated by the Guyana Police Force which includes continuous engagements with stakeholders, have over the last two months, undoubtedly resulted in a decrease of serious crimes and the reduction in all categories of road accidents and loss of lives.
This is according to information emanating from the Guyana Police Force [GPF].
According to the Public Relations and Press Officer, Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan, the Force for the month of June, 2017 has recorded a seven percent decrease in serious crimes and also an 11 percent decrease of serious crimes for July, 2017, relative to the same periods last year.
For June there was a 16 percent decrease in murder; a four percent increase in robbery where no instrument were used; a five percent decrease in robbery under arms where firearms were used; a four percent decrease in robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used; a 64 percent increase in robbery with violence; a three percent increase in robbery with aggravation; a 53 percent increase in larceny from the Person; a six percent decrease in rape; a one percent decrease in burglary and a 19 percent decrease in break and enter and larceny.
For July there was an 18 percent decrease in murder; a four percent increase in robbery where no instruments were used; a 17 percent decrease in robbery under arms where firearms were used; a four percent decrease in robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used; a 48 percent increase in robbery with violence ; a 12 percent increase in robbery with aggravation; a 26 percent increase in larceny from the person; a 10 percent decrease in rape; a two percent decrease in burglary and a 20 percent decrease in break and enter and larceny.
