Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, who is currently performing the duties of Head of State, was today paid a courtesy call by New Zealand’s Non- Resident High Commissioner to Guyana, Mrs. Jan Henderson, who is currently visiting Guyana.
The High Commissioner highlighted that she will be visiting an agricultural project in Karasabai and the Iwokrama Research Centre.
Last year Henderson, during a visit here, met with President David Granger to discuss bilateral cooperation and other issues.
The High Commissioner in brief remarks then spoke highly of the cordial relations between Guyana and New Zealand, not only through the Commonwealth and cricket but also through a strong programme of bilateral cooperation.
“We have shared democratic values [and] what I am trying to do is to encourage even deeper relationships through … agriculture cooperation and cooperation on renewable energy technologies,” the High Commissioner had said.
New Zealand has been lending support to Guyana in the implementation of the Mangrove Restoration Project and the Small Ruminants project, which focuses on building capacity in the development and application of improved husbandry practices and reproductive technologies.
