The last member of the immediate royal family is set to visit Guyana later this year. In a statement made by the British High Commissioner’s office on Monday, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry will be visiting Guyana later this year. It is apparent that this will be the first visit by a member of the Royal Family since 2004, which was done by Prince Andrew, Harry’s Uncle. This visit comes in the year of Guyana’s 50th anniversary of Independence. and therefore a particularly relevant time for such a visit.
The release further stated that Prince Harry will make the official visit on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen later in the year; he is also expected to pay visits to the islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
