The Ministry of Social Protection on Thursday August 24, 2017 successfully hosted a seminar for Private Security Service Providers under the theme: “Repositioning the Elderly and Single Mothers within the Private Security Service”.
The seminar which was attended by 23 Security Companies operating in a Sector which employs in excess of 8,000 persons was addressed by the Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection Keith Scott. Who made a comprehensive submission on the legal, moral and social ramifications associated with the function of the Security Service.
Security Service Providers must embrace a paradigm shift which would professionalize the management, and delivery of security services that would elevate the companies to boardroom status. This was the highlight when the Ministry of Social Protection held a seminar for Private Security Service Providers. The seminar was held under the theme: “Repositioning the Elderly and Single Mothers within the Private Security Service.”
The seminar which was attended by 23 Security Companies operating in a Sector which employs in excess of 8,000 persons was addressed by the Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection Keith Scott, who made a comprehensive submission on the legal, moral and social ramifications associated with the function of the Security Service.
He urged noted that apart from encouraging the management of the Security Companies to comply with all Labour related laws, moves should be made to be innovative and develop polices which would promote the interest and welfare of elderly men and single mothers.
In his presentation, Minister Scott alluded to the negative impacts which night work by single mothers can have on the family as a social unit and recommend the abolition of night work by single mothers in an effort to alleviate these negative impacts
The seminar was very interactive and witnessed all of the participants pledging their support for an improvement in the quality of service being offered to their clientele and their employees.
