A project to strengthen the intellectual property framework for Guyana is underway.
In this regard Minster of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams, recently met with Mr. Anil Sinha, Head of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) Section and SMEs and Entrepreneurship Support Division.
He also met with Mr. Krister Ahlberg, Adviser – Export Marketing and Branding (Division of Business and Institutional Support, Enterprise Competiveness of the International Trade Center. The aim was to establish a project on strengthening the Intellectual Property Framework in Guyana.
The project will undertake to revamp the Intellectual Property Laws of Guyana and focus on strengthening the Agro-Processing industries of Guyana with specific focus on WIPO’s Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) to support branding and exportation for Agro-Processors.
