Students will soon be able to access educational materials as well as study aid guides through the use of Ipads and similar electronic devices. This will mainly affect secondary schools in light of the fact that 82 secondary schools spanning regions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are now connected the Government’s E-governance (E-GOV) 4G LTE infrastructure network and are able to access Wi-Fi and internet services.
Students will not have access to uninhibited material as measures will be put in place so that only websites and materials that are appropriate will be accessible using these devices as well as the internet. By the end of 2017, all eligible public schools in Guyana are expected have these systems in place. This is in keeping with the mandate by president Granger that all schools should be equipped with internet services if they intend to move away from traditional the traditional learning experience to more a modern ICT approach.
